The district heating plant was financed as part of theBBT compensatory measures, which are jointly developed by the local authorities, the environmental authorities and BBT SE.Works on the heating system started at the end of 2019 and they were completed at the end of 2020.
The financial contribution by BBT SE for the construction of the heating plant in Fortezza amounts to € 5,458,913.

In addition to the construction of the new plant, the water supply network in Fortezza and Mezzaselva was also restored. The sports field next to the plant was renovated with funding from the town. This work is part of the compensation measures foreseen in the construction of the Brenner Base Tunnel, such as recycling collection points, the upgrading of public lighting installations with LED lamps in Fortezza and noise reduction barriers along the existing railway line in Mezzaselva.
