The project is divided into two sub-lots. The first one, called "New railway underpass and Riol access road," includes the construction of a new railway underpass and improved road access, which will complete the works begun under a previous contract that was terminated due to the bankruptcy of the contractor. These works began in 2019.
The second sub-lot, "Extension of the via Riol cycle/pedestrian underpass" involves the demolition and reconstruction of the final section of the current underpass, thus improving mobility for pedestrians and cyclists.
This will be a major upgrade that will also improve accessibility for non-motorised vehicles.
Meanwhile, BBT SE continues an open dialogue with the people living in the project area. All citizens are invited to attend an information evening on the "New Riol access road" construction site, organised by BBT SE, on Tuesday, January 14, at 6 PM in the J. Wild Multi-Purpose Hall.
