100,000 visitors - BBT Tunnel World is still a hot destination!

Today we reached the record number of 100 000 visitors at the BBT Tunnel World. Martin Schneider, Director of the Tunnel World, and the major of Steinach am Brenner Florian Riedl welcomed a family from Saxony, who was happy about the surprise. After a guided visit to the exhibition centre, the family received a special gift and then visited the “H52 Hochstegen” construction lot.

The information centre in the Tyrolean Wipptal valley was set up in spring of 2016. Step by step, the Tunnel World has become a real magnet for visitors. This interactive, knowledge-based attraction in Steinach am Brenner inspires visitors with numerous exhibits on the Brenner Base Tunnel infrastructure project. The Brenner Base Tunnel project company is happy to open its doors to guests of all ages and nations. People living in the project area take also particular interest, as do many groups of experts.

Over an area of approx. 800 m², various exhibits not only focus on the construction of what will be the longest railway tunnel in the world, but also on its benefits within the European context. Special attention is paid to the Munich-Verona Brenner axis, of which the BBT is the main element. In addition, the advantages of this low-gradient railway under the Alps compared to the existing railway line over the Brenner Pass are explained in terms of the environment, population and economy.

Recently, BBT SE has completely changed its interactive exhibition. And there’s even more fun for young railway fans: in the locomotive cabin of a train simulator, kids can feel like a train driver and virtually travel the Brenner-Innsbruck line. Grown-ups can enjoy the display tunnel which shows what the railway outfitting of the tunnel will look like. Another highlight is the so-called “route model”: the touch screen will allow you to navigate through the content along the entire route.

The Tunnel World is open even on Saturday and Sunday, thanks to the cooperation with the Wipptal Tourism Association, from 10 AM to 5 PM.
