CONSTRUCTION LOT H41 SILL GORGE-PFONS: FINAL BREAKTHROUGH OF A CROSSCUT COMPLETED

Works at the “H41 Sill Gorge-Pfons” construction site are progressing steadily, with excavation activities now nearing completion.

During the night of 8 to 9 April, an important milestone was reached on the Austrian construction lot “Sill Gorge-Pfons”: the final breakthrough of a crosscut was completed using the drill & blast tunnelling method. This marks a significant step forward for the works in this area, located near the Europa Bridge, close to Innsbruck.

As Romed Insam, Project Manager of the lot, explains: “From this point on, all crosscuts are fully interconnected. The only remaining excavation works concern the niches required for the installation of the railway equipment.”

The year 2025 has been particularly significant for this construction site: tubbing ring production has been completed and the TBMs (tunnel boring machines) Ida and Lilia have reached their destination. Final excavation works are currently being carried out, alongside the installation of the final inner lining.
