TBM Wilma, which began operations on September 18th, 2024, has already excavated more than 5 kilometres in the west main tunnel, reaching a significant milestone at the Pfons-Brenner construction site.
Advancing northwards along a total route of just over 7.4 kilometres northwards, the TBM has therefore completed approximately 70% of its work, with about 2.4 kilometres of tunnel still to be excavated.
At the same time, work is also progressing in the east main tunnel, where TBM Olga, Wilma’s “twin”, has excavated half of its route. Olga is currently advancing northwards through the mountain, excavating a stretch of just over 7.6 kilometres.
The year 2026 therefore begins with positive results and a significant contribution to the construction of the world's longest railway tunnel - a forward-looking project that will serve European mobility.
